Coolidge stepped aside in 1928, paving the path for fellow Republican Herbert Hoover. The Republicans held majorities in the houses of Congress during the roaring twenties and had a great say on what happened.( The 1920s Government, Politics, and Law: Overview.) During this time Coolidge and Harding changed much of America. One of the Greatest changes they made was prohibition which split America in half those who liked the “Dry” and those who did not. During prohibition there also was much corrupted in the government. Warren G. Harding was one of the men that were accused of being in this corruption. Harding’s attorney general had stepped down in office due to allegations of corruption. The Director of Veterans’ Bureau also quit over charges of fraud. Many of Harding’s workers had taken bribes in exchange for awards during the 1920s making thing very corrupted. America was not helping itself by making it world powers in trading with other nations like Woodward Wilson wanted. Instead it was becoming a isolated corrupted country.
